The London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) was a British railway company. The LMS included the London and North Western Railway, Midland Railway, the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway and several Scottish railway companies. Then, it was the largest railway company in the British Empire serving routes in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Under the Transport Act 1947, all British railway companies (GWR, LNER, SR and LMS) were nationalised and becoming part of the state-owned British Railways. Please, enjoy these 24 photos taken from very old picture postcards collected by Maurice Earley. Today these photos are in Public Domain.
