Hans-Peter Porsche’s dream has become a reality: He created a museum for model trains and toys - the “Dream Factory” (TraumWerk), in Southern Germany, in the district of Berchtesgaden. The precision found in this miniature world is nothing short of impressive. Märklin model trains travel through the most beautiful regions of the Alps. Lovingly designed. A model railroad specialist and his team built the exhibit over a period of two years.
The “Dream Factory” (TraumWerk) is a 365 square meter landscape reaching 5 meters high. A piece of Europe in miniature: Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, including Lake Constance. In total 180 trains, all from Porsche’s private collection. 40 of them are chugging along at the same time on nine separate tracks with a total of 2.7 kilometers of rail lines, while their companions are recuperating in 32 fiddle yards below the installation. Furthermorde, thirty model cars are en route. Four technicians and a modeler monitor the sixteen computers in the control room.
